چکیده

The temperature is a critical factor that determines the unfrozen water content and ice in frozen soil. In view of mechanical properties soil depend on volume components four-phase systems, thus has significant impact behaviors deformation properties. thermal state embankment permafrost regions seasonal difference, then seismic performance alters with season. addition, highly influenced by earthquake motion, especially intensity. Combining these factors, numerical simulation was conducted this study. study, taking typical section Qinghai-Tibet Railway as an example, case study behavior carried out using dynamic explicit FEM code ABAQUS/Explicit. El Centro excitation different intensities performed analysis two distinct states extreme cold warm days were considered well. embankment, including acceleration responses, strain response, displacement studied effectively. This paper proposes approaches methods to failure mechanism infrastructures, results can serve scientific basis for resisting earthquakes preventing disasters regions.

Editorial: Organic carbon pools in permafrost regions on the Qinghai–Xizang (Tibetan) Plateau

The current Northern Circumpolar Soil Carbon Database did not include organic carbon storage in permafrost regions on the Qinghai–Xizang (Tibetan) Plateau (QXP). In this study, we reported a new estimation of soil organic carbon (SOC) pools in the permafrost regions on the QXP up to 25 m depth using a total of 190 soil profiles. The SOC pools were estimated to be 17.3± 5.3 Pg for the 0–1 m dept...

Seismic Behavior of Zoned Core Embankment Dam

The aim of this investigation is to study the dynamic behavior of a zoned core earth-fill dam. Due to lack of suitable clay materials, the Mamloo dam is designed as zoned core that is composed of three vertical zones including central lean clay (CL) core and two sides clayey gravel (GC) layers. Seismic behavior of dam was analyzed in two cases including homogenous clayey core and zoned core by ...

Analysis of Railway Subgrade Settlement Deformation in Permafrost Regions Based on Satellite Interferometry

SAR differential interferometry is an innovative space-based measurement technology for ground deformation. Under inclement Qinghai-Tibet plateau environment, monitoring and analysis of railway subgrade deformation using satellite interferometry in plateau permafrost region has very important engineering significance for stability evaluation and safety management. In the paper, a brief descript...

A Research on Monitoring Surface Deformation and Relationships with Surface Parameters in Qinghai Tibetan Plateau Permafrost

The Qinghai Tibetan Plateau permafrost has been the largest permafrost region in middle-low latitude in the world for its high altitude. For the large area permafrost, especially surface deformation brought by it, have serious influence on the road engineering, road maintaining and regional economic development. Consequently, it is essential to monitor the surface deformation and study factors ...

Diversity and Distribution of Archaea Community along a Stratigraphic Permafrost Profile from Qinghai-Tibetan Plateau, China

Accompanying the thawing permafrost expected to result from the climate change, microbial decomposition of the massive amounts of frozen organic carbon stored in permafrost is a potential emission source of greenhouse gases, possibly leading to positive feedbacks to the greenhouse effect. In this study, the community composition of archaea in stratigraphic soils from an alpine permafrost of Qin...
